Saree Story: 8 Instagrammers & Their Unique Style!

Have you been contemplating packing up that gorgeous Saree away for the summers? Well, hold on ladies, because these Instagrammers are sure bringing the saree back in all its glory. From classics to modern renditions, they aren’t afraid to experiment and to shake it up into one gorgeous cocktail of style and comfort. So here goes to the ladies who will definitely make you want to drape your favourite one Right NOW!

Why I wear sarees?

Simply because why not? Saree is not just another outfit in my closet, it’s a lifestyle! In this ever judgmental world, Saree is one piece of cloth which is unbiased, nonjudgmental and ever accepting. While saree shopping no one ever asks you about your waist size or height and there is no one way of wearing them! Unlike any other cloth the older it is, the prouder you are! I am lucky to inherit lots and lots of my grandmother and mothers’ sarees!

Being a mother I always look for more easier, comfortable and quicker ways of wearing a saree! So:

Most of the time I team my saree with shoes so I am ever ready to chase my super active daughter

I tie a knot instead of setting the pleats of my pallu as it’s less time consuming and I never have to readjust it

I always wear the leggings because if my daughter decides to play tug of war in public I have a back up(like literally!!).

Going the crepe route styles

 Sarees, my forever love!

The beauty of a crepe fabric lies in the fall- the way the fabric drapes around your body and twists and turns as you walk. I just love how comfortable this fabric is, and is so easy to carry almost the entire day. There’s just one down side, though. This fabric tends to get wrinkled easily, so you need to be a little careful in that department. But a lot of saree fabrics pick up wrinkles, so it’s ok

Crepe doesn’t require too much maintenance for storage, hence it is easy to maintain. You will, however, need to get them dry-cleaned for sure, since it can be risky washing these at home.

Tradtional Bandhani or Bandhej sarees

popular from the regions of Rajasthan and Gujarat, are one of my most favorite types of sarees. I have two in my collection, and I’m sharing one of them here with you guys today. Read on to discover more about this textile style and why it is so popular!

As is evident from the name, bandhej is a highly skilled and meticulous tie-and-die style of creating a fabric design (bandh= to tie), hence the name. Bandhej involves creating design patterns on a plain white fabric by creating small knots of thread on the fabric. Patterns and designs are created with these knots, and the knotted fabric is later dyed in a color of choice. Once dry, the knots are then opened up to reveal white, non-dyed fabric underneath, hence creating a contrast and revealing the pattern.

The fabrics are dyed by hand and the main colors used are reds, blues, greens, yellows and black to get a sharp contrast against white.

Bandhej or bandhini or bandhani sarees are worn as a celebratory/ festive/ bridal outfit in the regions of Rajasthan and Gujarat. Most married women from these regions have worn a saree like this on at least one celebration, if not on their wedding day, since this style is considered very auspicious.

Add a modern belt :

Break the monotony of the colors and regular saree drape by adding a belt over your saree. It can be a gold metal belt, sleek or a chunky leather belt; pick the best quality material and give a contemporary twist to your ethnic attire. It goes quite well on the printed and plain sarees. Mind you, pin up the pleated pallu on the blouse.

Linen Sarees for the Office

Linen Sarees. They’re comfortable, they look make YOU look great, and they’re perfect for the office. The office is stressful and requires that YOU to be at your best all the time—everytime.

Linen is a special fabric. First, it’s the oldest known fabric and master weavers all around India have perfected it. It conducts heat especially well—you’ll stay cool even during the hottest summer months. Additionally, Linens come in calming pastel colors that look fantastic. Above all, it’s a reliable outfit that requires little effort! We’re proud to showcase what our partners have in stock. In particular, we have some special pieces in mind…

Bollywood adorn Designer Banarasi Silk Sarees

Looking elegant in her specially crafted Banarasi Silk Saree, Aishwarya made India proud by wearing such a culturally important piece to her special lunch with former French President François Hollande. Aishwarya’s Saree is a bit different from Anushka’s as it is a much lighter red and features a larger butta design. In fact, this saree in particular is a special type of Banarasi called a “mehrab” because of the design.

Kanchipuram Silk Sarees never go out of fashion as the bevy of celebrities wears them with the aplomb of style. The concept of fashion is quite dynamic in nature.
